The sermon on Sunday, August 16, 2026, will be Revelation 17:1-18 – Drunk with Blood … Ripe for Judgment. “They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, ….” – Revelation 17:14
Revelation 17:14 really does summarize the book of Revelation in 13 words. Christ’s enemies make war on him and his followers. We read in verse 6 of this chapter, “And I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.” An old hymn states, “Fierce may be the conflict, strong may be the foe ….” But the hymn goes on to say, “… but the King’s own army, none can overthrow.” 1st Century Christian martyrs needed this reminder. Faithful, 21st Century witnesses need the reminder too. Jesus Christ will conquer all his and our enemies; and he calls upon us to conquer our foes through the strength he provides.
