The sermon on Sunday, August 30, 2026, will be from Ephesians 3:14-21 – Paul’s Prayer for Ephesus and for Us. “… that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.” – Psalm 67:2

The “Aaronic benediction” (Num. 6:24-26) is regularly pronounced at the end of public worship by ministers in the Presbyterian and Reformed tradition. The psalmist, in Psalm 67, also has Aaron’s benediction in mind. We see this in verse 1, “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, ….” There is a purpose, however, as you see in verse 2, attending the blessing. God showers the blessings of his grace and favor upon us so, “… that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations.” He blesses us so that we might, in turn, be a blessing to others. And those “others” are not only our neighbors across the street, but our fellow human beings across the oceans. Psalm 67 is the missionary’s psalm. May God help us to make it our own and to, “… climb the steeps, and cross the waves; ….”
